Page of Rage
By Julie
This page is brought to you by blatant
ignorance, blind prejudice and willful hate.
This is a new web page I'm working on.
It's goal is simple. I want to report and chronicle incidents of
abuse of transgendered individuals wherever they occur. What I need
from people is for them to send me reports of such abuse with as much
source material as they can provide. I prefer documented information.
That includes news report, first hand accounts, etc. But if you do
send me a first hand account, I'm going to want a way to contact you.
That's pretty much it. If you've got information to contribute to
this page, please e-mail me at:

Rages
Brown, Sharon Sharon Brown was fired from
her job at Fayetteville (NC) State University after it was discovered
that she was born male.
"Cops" I've never watched the show, but
have been told that the television show "Cops" has on several
occasions featured harassment of transvestites and transsexuals. If
anyone has more detailed info, please e-mail me.
D, Carla A telephone worker from Orange
county, Carla was found dead in her apartment of multiple stab
wounds. No suspect was ever charged.
Draper, Harold A sex worker in Patterson,
NJ, Harold was found dead of multiple stab wounds on May 30,
1992.
Goldman, Richard Richard was a fourty year
old transgender man who, along with his wife, was shot and killed by
his father.
Hart, Alan Hart, a female-to-male
transsexual, has been continually misrepresented by Oregon's Right to
Privacy. Since 1982, they have been giving out an annual award in his
female name. Activists are currently trying to engage in a dialogue
about the issue, but progress is slow.
The Human Rights Campaign Fund The HRCF
has been consistently unwilling to acknowledge the basic needs for
inclusion of transgenderists in their charter. Much more detail on
this is available from Click
for Human Rights Campaign.
Johnson, Marsha A long-time activist,
Marsha was found dead in the Hudson river after having been harassed
by some kids earlier that night. The police chose not to investigate,
claiming there was no reason to suspect a crime of any sort.
Hunter, Tyra Tyra Hunter was a
transgendered individual who died while members of an EMS crew joked
about her anatomy. Chris Hampton wrote an excellent article about the
incident.
Pickett, Chanel Chanel Pickett is one of
many transsexuals who have been murdered by supposed lovers. Here's a
portion of a news article:
Palmer was a reputed admirer of pre-op
transsexuals who frequented one of Boston's two TS pick-up bars, the
Playland. On Sunday evening, November 19, Palmer drove Chanel and her
twin transsexual sister Gabrielle to their Chelsea apartment, staying
for about 90 minutes to drink, and snort cocaine he had purchased
near the Playland. Palmer apparently attempted to persuade the twins
to participate in a three-way tryst. Only Chanel packed an overnight
bag and went home with him. According to Gabrielle, Chanel did not
regard Palmer as a trick, but as a potential relationship
partner.
Palmer's roommates stated he and Pickett
spent 5 hours in Palmer's room, during which an argument broke out.
The roommates knocked on the door, but were assured everything was
all right. Shortly thereafter, the conflict escalated and Pickett was
strangled to death.
This report was taken from Click
for Transgendered Forum.
S, Mary Mary S. was fired without cause
after beginning to transition on the job. Eventually, she turned to
sex work to pay food and rent. Shortly afterwards, she was found in
the trunk of a car in the river, lacerated by multiple stab
wounds.
Santiago, Jessy On February 8th, 1992,
Jessy was attacked by a man who wanted to date her while the police
were standing at her door. The Police refused to call the murder a
bias crime despite the attacker's comment "I'm going to kill that
fag."
Tanner, Cameron A transgendered individual
in San Francisco, on March 11, 1992, Tanner was assaulted by two
bat-wielding men. Cameron died of resulting wounds on April
21.
Teena, Brandon Brandon Teena was a
female-to-male transsexual who was outed by local police in Falls
City, NE. According to the news report:
Police publicly released this information
to the local newspaper, the Falls City Journal. One week later, on
Christmas Day 1993, Brandon was raped and assaulted at a Christmas
party by two men, whom he identified to local police as Nissen and
Lotter, despite the fact that they had threatened to kill him if he
reported the incident to the police.
However, charges of rape and assault were
not filed against Nissen and Lotter until after Brandon's slaying,
despite the fact that his sister Tammy Brandon had called Richardson
County sheriff Charles B. Laux four days before the slaying to ask
why Lotter and Nissen had not been arrested when Brandon had
identified them as his attackers.
The full text of this article is
available. There is also a first hand account of the trial.
The U.S. Passport Office Apparently, the
gender police are alive and well in the federal government. Dana
Marie, a post operative transsexual, was told that she'd only be able
to receive a passport as a male because her doctor said he'd
"performed" the operation, not "completed" it.
